ee Rev. MULLIGAN, an Episcopalian minister residing at Alexandria, Virginia,
nme were the most active menbers of the Washington Comittee of the Highlander
Folk School and should be given the most credit for the success of the concert.
MYLeS HORTON further advised that, since this is Highlanderts tenth anniversary,
an effort is being made by the school to obtain national sponsors, and in
Pas connection letters have been written to many prominent political figures
in washington and throughout the country; that so far Fi. NK GRAHAM, Mrs.
FrifkLIn D. ROOSEVELT, and JANES C:REY have given oral consent to have their
nancs used as sponsors for the school; that written consent has been obtained
from ROGER BiLDVIN, President ANDERSON of antioch College, GEORGE Wi YHEI
of Vanderbilt University, Dr. La somior and CaRRIE\MchILLIALb. MYLES
HORTON expected to have an inposing list of celebrities sponsor \the school
in the near future. .
HORTON further advised that many of the sponsors of
.is: sehool Were not personally familiar with the school or members of the
faculty, but gave their support to the school betause they believed in the
program as outlined by publications issued by the school.
HIGHLANDER FOLK SCHOOL AND THE SOUTHERN CONFERENCE FOR HUMAN WELFARE:
The Highlander Fling published by the Highlander Folk
School at HNonteagle, Tennessee for June, 1942 contains an article which
States that at the third Conference for Human Welfare held in Nashville,
séuuicesce ou April 19-21, 19)2, JANES \DOLBROWSKI served as executive secretary
and has been given a leave of absence &nd will continue with the conference
throughout the year. The article further states that all of the school staff
tock part in the conference as panel leaders, office workers or delegates;
that a large number of former students who were present at the conference as
cvlegates met with the staff for dinner. Following the conference, sone
_. forty friends vis Highlander Folk School, among whom were H
. TEFFERTELLER, CLARKYFOREMAN of Washington, ETHEL PLYDE and erm Fis of
New York, and several carloads of Black Mountain 4nd University Oklahoma
svuucents. The present address of JAMES DOMBROWSKI as obtained from Qyp
Postmaster at Honteagle, Tennessee, is Room 202, Presbyterian Building,
Rashville, Tennessee. It is believed that this is the present headquarters
