General Secretariat _ Paris, February 24, 1949 C.IeP.Co Noe Proti/100/sa The Secretary General of the Intemational ° Criminal Police Commission tos { have the honor of sending you herewith attached, copy of _a@ letter from the Director of the Economie and Social Council of the United Nations tending to unite the various Conventions regarding the suppression of-traffic in women and children and the resumption of the plan of the 1937 Convention aiming to suppress the exploitation of the prostitution of others, in view of introducing all improvements desirable thercin. , To this effect the United Nations wanted to take into con- sideration the observations presented by non-governmental organizations and has solicited the opinion of the latter on certain suggestions presented in view of the new plan of the unified Convention. As a result, the administrative body of the Social Commission of the United Nations has sent us the attached questionnaire on the sOcial measures intended to prevent prostitution, those for the treat- ment of prostitutes, the organization of services assigned to these ends and especially that for the use of the judiciary police.— These questionnaires must be returned properly filled out by April 1, and I would be very obliged to you if you would place me in a position to comply with the United Nations request. For this reason, I ask you to carry this out as soon as possible so that I may transmit them in tum on this date. For the Secretary General: L.
