The purpose of this amendment is to preserve the present authority of the Director of the Administrative Office of the United States Courts which is now contained in chapter 41, title 28, United States Code, and would permit the Department of Justice, at. the Director's request, to continue these investigations and examinations as the Judicial Conference in 1940 deemed desirable. It would further per- mit a change at any time if either the Director or the Judicial Con- ference desired such change. . Qn pave 4, strike out section 7, lines 6 throngh 12.
