Thie morntng ao Miss Walters of the Leave Ofe=
ftee of the Department, extenston 736, telephonieally
contacted me at the instructions of Mr. John Adler,
Personnel Officer, and stated that the Departauent would
ltke to have the record of sick and annual leave taken
by the Director for the calendar years 1945 through
1948 to the present time. She stated that this request
was predicated on a letter from the U. S. Senate Coen-
mittee on Post Offtce and Ciuvtl Service which had been
sent to ail Departments on the matter of Leave and
which, besides soliciting the independent suggestions
of the Departments for the improvement of the Leave
Systew, requested to be adutsed of the amount of sick
and annual leave taken by the aduintstrators, assiste
ant administrators, and secretaries of the vartous de~
partments. The Departamt of Justice stated that tt
was interested only in the Director's leave. i
