Dear Sir: For inclusion in the fund to be paid to the widow or designated beneficiary of any Spe- cial Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Department of Justice, who had contributed to thia fund prior to February 15, 1948, and who dies from any cause except aelf- destruction while employed as a Special Agent, I am forwarding herewith (by CHECK - MOituY-@RDER) the sum of ten dollarge ($10.00), made peyable to the Chief Clerk of said Bureau, to be included in said fund. Payment will be made for death by self-destruction after the Agent has been s member of the fund for two years. It is understood and agreed that the sum tendered herewith ie a voluntary, gratuitous contribution to said fund, which I understand is to be administered in the following manner: The Director of the Buresu will] appoint a committee which shall consider all sattere per=- taining to the acquisition, safe keeping and expending of said fund, which committee will recommend appropriate action to the Director of the Bureau in pertinent matters. The Chief Clerk of said Bureau shall receive 81] contributions and account for same to the Director. Upon the asath of any Special Agent, the sppointed committes will consider the ease and submit a recommendation to the Director as to ita conclusions, Appropriate instructions will then be issued to the Chief Clerk, directing him to pay to the designated benefictary the sum of $10,000.
