Removed frou Catice of Former Lirector J. E. Hoover
Tolson ectite and pact Conrressicnal interest in Mr. Hoover's office. In view
of this, 2 gencral inventory of all material stored in the space under control of
the Special rrojects Lection in the CPO Building was conducted on 9/17/76.
Located in the OPO Building were a total of €5 boxes, crates and
packets which were sccresat ed into gencral categorics and examined to deter-
mine the overall mture of the contents. Review disclosed the following:
1. 33 carcboard boxes containing mounted articles and editorials
regarding the FBI and Lir. Hoover, from various publications during the years
2913 ~ 1872.
2. T cardboard boxes containing congraulatory messages to Mr.
Hoover on various anniversaries and special occasions.
$8. 12 cardboard boxes, 1 cardboard wrapped packet and 1 masonite
receptacle containing photographs of Mr. Hoover and/or other individuals who
were associated with hin. Included in one of thase boxes were 4 postage stamp
albums. ‘The stamp aloums were removed from box 453 and are stored ina
safe located in the Printing and Space Management Section in the Jus Building.
4. 2 wooden crates containing 78 panels of mounted editorial cartoons;
1 additional wooden crate; 2 cardboard boxes, and 1 micket containing various
earicatures and editorial cartoons.
5. 2 wooden crates and package containing various diplomas,
certificates, degrees and awards presented to Mr. hoover.
6. 1 cardboard box and 1 wooden crate coataining athletic trophies.
%. 3 cardboard boxes containing miscellaneous items including a model
of Mr. Hoover's office at Vermont Avenue and K Strect; material related to the
book “Masters of Deccit” such as news articles, advertisements and editorials,
and matorial for the scrapbook."
Examination disclosed that only matertal id-ntifiable with the above
general catesories was included and nothing synonynic.is with official files was
contained therein. It is noted that in some instances crticles and cditorials
contained file numbers of cascs to which the items had €ome significance. Upon
