of Parole file as being an attorney active in behalf of Campagna, it is noted .*. -

an article which acpeared in the Chi cago Tribune for December 1, 1934, Willian-
Scott Stewart is described as an attorney "who has defended a number of notorious
crininals, expressing disapproval of the shoot-to-kill policy, charged that the
governnent is usurping the powers of local police, and criticized Attorney General —
Homer Cummings as 'maddling with affairs outside his province!." Stewart <5 ry
further quoted in the newspaper article as stating: ‘There seems to bé an. *
epidemic of this sort of thinge ‘he public is being regaled every few days wi
pictures on the front page of the newspapers of criminals who have been shot down.
