a casey all that a lawyer expects ts a jury to dectde the case
on the evidence with mature deliberation, I feel satisfied
by reason of the length of time that you took for your
deliberattons, as well as the questions aaked during the course —
of your deltberationa that you eramined very carefully the
euidence and came to a certatn concluston.* The Fosenbergs
counsel on summation stated; ‘Fe feel that the trial has been
conducted and we hope we have contributed our share with that ,
dtgntty ond decorum that befite an Amertcan trial, ?" .

In hts optnton dated December 10, 1952, Judge Ryan
stated as follors: "I ftnd no relevant or matertal tssue of
substance ratsed by the petitions, which requires a hearing
thereon or which renders the taking of oral teattmony etther
necessary or helpful. I have concluded, after affording the
attorneys for pettttoners full opportuntty to argue the legal
problems presented by the petitton and to make proffers of
proof, that the petittonera are entitled to no reltef, that the
court which rendered jJudgnent hed jurtedtetton, that the
sentences tmposed were authorized by lew and are not otherotas
open to collateral attack on any of the grounds urged by the
petittoners, and that full and complete ‘enjoyment of the
constitutional rights of petittoners have been extended them
