McConnell at Fayetteville, who had been recanmended as a trustworthy source of information. When questioned as to pogsible hideouts in the vicinity of Eureka Springs, he advised that one We We Hamlin, Re Re 2, Eureke, Springs, conducted a filling station and store at the White River Bridge on Highway No, 62, approximately 14 miles from Eureka Springs. He 4{nformed that Hamlin seemed to do wery little business, but generally had a car or two of expensive make parked in the vicinity of his place of business. He said that he had received information from time to time to the effect that Hamlin ran his business 48 4 cloak, being, in reality a contact, man for racketeers. He said that he had had a cover placed on the mail of Hamlin and advised fran his records that the latter received mail from Mrs. We He Sperry, 2212 East Sixth Street, Tulse, Oklahom, and also fron McKays Auto Repair Shop at Harvey, Tllinois, The Post office Inspector said that in his opinion Pamlin's place was one of the information exchenge points for men in the racket. As a matter of record, it my be noted that Hanlints place is located 2 miles south of a retreat owned by Doctor Charies R- Scoville, an evangelist, whose place is known 46 “Inspiration Point." Fron Ine spiration Point, accord ing to information obtained from the Post office Inspector, & good view is had of all the surround ing countryside. ' JULY 1, 1955 retumed to the City Park Tourist Camp at Fayetteville et dinner time. He related that he had ascertained that the hideout of the Galatas gang was at the filling station and sort of tourist camp con= ducted by one Walter Ww, Hamlin, at the White River Bridge near "Inspiration Point.* He turned over to agents a personal ecard of We We Hamlin, Eureka Springs s Arkansas, which indicated the latter was connected with the Wnite
