Mason for the purpose of informing hin that someone had called at Jackeon 9702, which is the 85th Tavern, to which he replied that he did not. He was asked if he hes at any time mentioned in a conver- sation to Mason that the telephone call had been received inquiring for Mason's telephone number. Mulioy stated that the nezt time he saw Macon he informed him that somsone called from Chicago to the 85th Tavern and asked for his telephone nunber and whether he got the eall. Mulloy stated that Mason told him that he received the call from Chicago, | but did not go into any details or explamtion.® : Cormunication was had with the Chicago office immediately upon receiving the above statenant from Mulloy, and it wae suggested "Doct, Stacey of the 0. P. Inn was probably the individual who made contact with Miller thro Mulloy on June 16th. It was requested that intense interrogation of that ine dividual in Chicago be pursved. No undeveloped leads are being set out in this report except the one for the Chicago office covering Bluffton, Indiana, in view of the fact that ‘letters have deen previously written and telephone communieations bed pur~- suant to development of leads eppearing which will be continued as such developmenta appear necessary. UNDEVELOPED LEADS. THE CHICAGO OFFICE ie requested to make very discreet incuiries of Charles M. Mahr, Care the Ments Wear Shop, Bluffton, Indiana, to determine all informa- tion, which he may be able to furnish in this matter as to the identity of the assassins, It is recomended that he be approached in a manner which will not disclose the nature of the inquiry, as he may not wieh to have hie name know in ‘this connection.
