J.@@onner was friendly with the daughter of Xrs. C. E. Reed, 906 Quapaw Street, and that this girl had been reported to have received a letter from him to the effect that "they® were in Canada and on their way to Alaska, Agente were advised that Mra. Reed could be openly epproached, and eke and her daughter, bies C. Reed, were intervieved. They adviesd that they formerly resided next to the Conners on Cedar Street in Hot Springs, and became acquainted when the Conners cent flowers after the death of Kr. Reed. Eowever, they were never fotimate. The deughter, who is about.20, went out with A. J. Conner on one occasion, but her mother did not approve and she discontinued seeing hic. Ls. Conner called at the Reed hore on one occasion during the past Spring, but advised that she would not return since A.J. was not welcome. It was ascertained that Ae J. Conner claims to be the nephew ot Governor Conner of Mississippi, which confirms previous reporte, and further thet he is supposed to be a graduate of a college at Oxford, . Mississippi (evidently the University of Mississippi). About a year ago Aed. went to Kew Orleans, but the only address known to the Reeds there is the Club Forest, a gambling clube Mree Reed'e objections to this young men were based on his gembling, she advising thet he always appeared to be gentlemanly. It is possible that Miss Reed was not disclosing all the information in her possessions Through contact with Er. Nobles of the Western Union Telegraph ' Company it was ascertained that he had located a telegram sent May 28, 1933 by Mrs. Conner to Myrtle Kanley, 2510 Ross Avenue, Dallas, Texas, requesting thet she call by telephone. Jt is noted that previous informe tion indicated thet Mrs. Conner’s niece, May Hanley, is probably in Dellas. Ky. Nobles aleo exhibited a telegram dated lay 27, 1922, addreased to Mise Vera Hinkle, Arcade Gift Shop, Arlington Hotel, aent from Hot Springa, and signed “A.J/® which conteins a birthday greeting. This girl hae been interviewed and evidently did not disclose the extent of her acquaintance with the Conners. It ie suggested that her mail be covered. With reference to the telephone calle to the Home of Galetas from Clera Harris which were placed at telephone number ¢-9633, Little Rock, 1t was ascerteined that this telephone ia a pay station located in Steincamp's Cafa, located at 1114 West 7th Street, Little Rock. It was determined that there were no toll ticke$s showing cella from thie phone, and 4gente were informed that any calle which had been made were (evidently | collect. _ Inquiry at the Little Rock Police Department disclosed thet Steincampts is known as a reliable individual and he was eccordingly inter- - Fleved et a furniture store which he operetes a few doors from his restaurant.
