Reference is made to Division telegram dated Geptenber 5, 1955 advising that a telegrem had been received fram Charles chank, Dan- ville, Illinois, who advised thet Charles "Pretty Boy"“rloyd could be located in a short time and requesting that a man of authority be sent. - Immediately upon receipt af above telegram fram the Director, Special agent H. G. Maynor, tho wae at that time in atteniance in 0.5. Court at Denville, Illinois, wae directed to contact Charles Shank, who Tesides at 405 Commercial Street, Danville, Illinois, and obtain from him full infomnation in his possession concerning Charles “Pretty Boy” Bloyd. On the eve of September 5, 1955 Special agent H. G. Maynor interviewed Gharles#Shank, at his home 405 Comercial Street, Danville, Illinois, who advised thet he is well acquainted with Charles “Pretty Boy" Floyd, who under the name of Frank’Mitchell, served eight months with him in the County Jail, Toledo, Ohio, May to Hovember, 1050; that Frank Mitchell and his essociate, Rathan » Were deing held 4n said jail on « charge of bank robbery, and that he, Shank, was be- ing held on a charge of arson; that during the period fram May to November, 1030 he, Shank, was in the same oell with Mitchell and King; that Mitchell end King were sentemed to the State Penitentiary, Col- - umbus, Obio, in Hovember, 1930, and while being transferred to enid institution, Mitchell succeeded in making his escape fram the sheriff by jumping through the window of the coech in which they were siding; that King did not escape and is still confined at the State Peniten- tiary, Columbus, Ohio; that he, Shank, wes sentenced to the State Re- formatory, Mansfield, Ohio, on December 17, 1930, where he sas known as Convict #26295, and was released from said institution September 0, 1932, at which time he retumed to Danville, Illinois, where he ie at | present living with hie wife and two children at 405 Commercial Street; that during the past seven weeks “Pretty Boy" Floyd has passed through Danville, Illinois on three occasions; that the first time he observed COPIES DESTROYED
