Floyd wesduring the month of June, 1933, in front of the Palmer National Benk, at which time Floyd informed him he was passing through Danville on hie way to St.Louis, Miesouri; that some time during the latter part of July, 1933, he again met Floyd at approzimately the sam place in Dan- » Tilinois; that Floyd, knowing that he was an automobile mechanic, told him that he would call at bis home that evening about 0:00 o'clock for the purpose of having him look over the engine of hie Lincoln Sedan; that expecting Floyd to call at his home, he notified Chief of Police Freeman of Danville, Dilinois, and Chief Freemam hed the vioinity of his heme under surveillance, but Floyd failed to appear. Ghenk stated that on the efterncon of Septexber 5S, 165 “Presty Boy* Floyd again passed through Danville, Tllinocis, driving a Lincoln Sedan with a tan body trinmed in black; thet said car bore a Missouri license plate, the number of which he 414 not obtain; that Floyd was accompanied by two men and two wamen ani tolé him that he was en route to the Worlds Fair at Chicago, Illinois, and might returmm to Kanms City, Missouri by way of Danville, Tlinocis, after attending the Worlds Fair; that he did net notify Chief of Police Freeman of this last appearanse of “Pretty Boy” Floyi in Danville, Illinois fer the reason that he got the impression from his previous interview with local officers, that they did not believe the information he was giving concerning Floyd being in Danville, Illinois to be true, and aleo for the reason that Floyd vas ériving a high powered automobile ani thet by the time he would have the opportunity to inform the Chief of Police that Floya vould be many wiles from Danville. Ghank stated that he has been exployed only a few days since his release from the Mansfield, Ohio Reformtory, and mowing "Pretty — Boy” Floyd as be does, belicves that he should be Eilied, He requested to be advised by Agent Maynor if he would be protected if he again mt Floyd and kilied him, Agent Maynor advised Shank that he had no auth- ority to kill Floyd should he again chance to meet hin, but that he should inmediately report all information to Chief of Police Freeman with whom arrangements have been made to endeavor to apprehend Floyi . should he again appear at Danville, Tllincie, A photograph and descrip- tion of “Pretty Boy” Floyi was furnished Charles Shank by Agent Maynor with the request that he immediately notify Chief of Police Freeman of Danville, Illinois should he oenin » meet Floya in that city and shank agreed to do #0. .
