With refermce to telegram from the Division dated October 2nd,
1933, advising that one Fred{Peterson, Ventura, California, claims to
know the whereabouts af Subjéct Richard’ Galatas, I. O. No. 1201, please
be advised that Special Agent H. J. Eneen of thia office, in company with
Sheriff Howard Durley, Ventura, California, contacted Fred Peterson at
his residence, 645 East Santa Street, Venturae
Mr. Peterson stated that for the past several weeks he had dean
living at the Palace Hotel, having left his residence on Santa Street;
that adjacent to the Palace Hotel is a restaurant called the "Mission Xnn*,
and that he believes the proprietor of said restaurant ia identical with
Richearé Galatas, Subject of I. 0. Noe 120le He produced a copy of said
identification omer, which he stated he had found on the bulletin board
in the Post Office at Venturas
Mr. Peterson, in his conversation with agent Kneen, was incohere
ent and rembling and mentianed the fact that a good muy people thought he
was insane, stating that no one realized the wonderful faculty he had for
locating crininalee
Sheriff Durley advised that he has had Mr. Peterson under observes
tion for som time due to the fact that he is convinced Mr. Peterson ia ine
