MEMORANDUM FOR SPECIAL AGENT IN CHARGE

Re: VERNE C. MILLER with aliases - FUGITIVE,
OBSTAUCTION OF JUSTICE
About 5:00 P. M. on November 1, 1933, agent Yan Wagoner
and the writer, upon instructions from agent W. C. Ryan, maintained
surveillance of the Galt Street entrance and the fire escape on the
East side of the Sherone Apartment Hotel located at Sheridan and Galt
Streets. This surveillance was maintained from a Ford sedan which was
parked approximately 50 feet from the Galt Street entrance on Calt
Street, facing West. Fran this position surveillance could be had of
the Galt Street entrance and the fire escape. This agent was equipped
with a loaded Thompson machine gun and 6 .38 Colt revolver and was
seated in the rear of the car mentioned.
Special Agent E. P. Guinane came to the writer's cer and .
inatructed Special agent Van Wagoner that he would be relieved by Special
Agent A. 3%. Lockerman, At about 6:30 P. M. agent Van Wagoner was relieved
by agent Lockerman. Diligent surveillance was maintained of the fire es-
cape and the Galt Street entrance of the hotel.
About &:30 P. M. Special Agent Lockerman and the writer
observed a woman with two children leave the hotel by way of the Gelt
Street entrance; that this woman accompanied the children to the corner
of Galt and Sheridan Road, and watched these children cross Sheridan
Road, and they continued to walk North on Sheridan Road. This woman re-
turned to the doorway of the Galt Street entrance of the hotel and looked
up and down Galt Street. It was believed by agent Lockerman and the |
writer that thie woman waa Bobbie Moore, Shortly thereafter, it was
observed that a cream colored large sports roadster with ea trunk on the
back was driven into the parking lot across fram the Galt Street entrance
of the hotel. It was further noted that Bobbie Moore crossed the street
and within a short time drove the above described car from the parking
lot to the Gelt Street entrance of the hotel, headed in an Easterly
@irection, parking this car in the middle of Galt Street just Mast of
the~hotel entrance with the motor running. The driver blew the hora
several times and agent Lockerman and the writer remarked that probably
Bebbie Moore was waiting for her boy friend. Agent Lockerman was unable
to secure the license number on this car on account ofthe glere of the
headlights, but it was observed that this war was an Auburn sports roadster.
