eT ates who are known were with hin in Detrotte | Upon examination of the tlenkets ‘which had been , wrapped ‘erouna him, {t was) observed that two were evidently brand new, being of cheap material; it being indica- - tei that evidently the persons who took part in the slaying had purchased the clothes. : line and the blankets specifically for this purpose, and had gone directly to the place of the slaying with this material. In addition to the two blankets which wore tied . around his body, en automobile robe of cheap material was found. Thore ere no identi~ fication marks of eny sort on either of these three blankets. It was observed that — onu corner of the automobile robe had been cut away, indicating that perhaps an iden- titication mark had been removed. ‘fhe only mark of identification found was that the cluthes-line wes purchased from an 8. S. Eresge tare, as 6 Lebel which had been attea- chad on the outside was near the body. oe, . Boe tg: veg ne there ig @ deep welt around Miller's neck, “fudteating that evidently bis. slayers had used a rope around that portion of his body. Bowever, the coroner believes | that death was caused by severe blows on top of the head and on the forehead by a blunt instrument, perheps a claw-hammer, rather than from strangulation, this opinion being dram in the absence of considerable discoloration of the face. It is also de- = lieved at this time that Miller had been dead between 6 to 10 hours. One theory’ ed- a Vaaced was that beceuse Miller being completely nude, he was attacked in bed, and thet he was choked to a certain point to avoid making any noise, and that the blunt inetru- ment was immodiately used upon him. The nature of nis wounds in his forehead bes a” great extent corroborate this theory. , . oe ae Lote ey te Up to this wtiting, no information has been obtained as to where the killing took place, or where Miller atayed while in Detroit. Along this line it is intéresting tc note that on Sunday morning, November 26, the bodies of Abe axler and Ridie Flet- .. cher, recognized as Detroit Public Enemies Number 1 and 2, were found riddled with bul- lets near Pontiac, Michigan. The local newspapers have carried several items to the —. effect that it had been rumored that associates of these two gangsters had made atate~ ments that they were out to *get® the alayers of these two men. Also the body of Yal- tour Tylezak, who bore the reputation of a gunmen end murderer, wes found riddled with . billets near Detroit early Tuesday morning, November 28. In view of the sudden sppeary ace of Miller in Detroit, there is a strong possibility that he might have been im _ ported to exterminate the above-named gangsters, end wes: himself slain ay thei x asso~ clates before. be had tine to leave the Baty: eR ae M “hore is being transmitted herewith to the Division ‘tligetgetnen of Verne ‘Miller which were secured last night at the County Morgue; also two photographs shot fag the body, wrapped in blankets, at the spot where it was found, these photographs: | baing taken before the body hai been moved.
