Information had been received by the Kansas City office that
a onner, brother-inelaw of Subject Louise Conner, was in the —
viginity of Knobel, arkansas, and therefore it was deemed advisable
by |the Agenta to condu of investigation et that pointe
4 J (name and not initials) Conner was located at a farm
operated by He Be Handley near Enotel, arkanaase The log house in which
the Handleys reside was formerly a depot and general rumer hee it thet
the place ia a gangster's strong holds The agents however ascertained
that there waa no evidence of an arsenal of firearms in the houses For
the sake of privacy Conner was interviewed in en automobile used by the
Agents, The questioning lasted for approximately three hourse ,
Conner said that for the last siz years he has spent coneider
able time at Hot Springs with his brother, Eddie Connar, now deceased,
and his sister-in-law Louise, wife of the deceased Kidies, He atated
that he has been acquainted with Galetas for that period of time and
that he has often placed gambling bete for the latter as Galatas ms
not in a position to do so himself, The Galatas family, he stated,
often visited back and farth with the Conners and Louise Conner, he
seid, ie a very close friend of Mrse Galatase Wien asked about the
telephone calla made from the home of Louise Conner on June 16, 1935,
he denied any imcwledge whatever concerning theme He stated that
although he was living with Louias Conner he was not on very friendly
terme with her. = =—« during Jpne, 1938, due to the relations which
she was having with W. T. (Bil1)j/Moreman, a msrried suitor, who has
been heretofore mentioned in this investigation very prominently as a
friend of Louise Conners a J Conner said that the morning of June 16,
1033, he had coffee with Louiee Conner after which he left the house
and did not return until abmt six ofclock that night when he returned
to dress for a dinner dates He claimed that Louise Conner was at the
residence when he arrived that evening and was still there when he
lefte Ho said that he did not return home until about four otelock
on the morning of June 17, 1933,
