“Dear Sirs FER 9 1934
Pursuent to telephonic instructions from Mr. He Ee Clege &f ‘the

during our telephonic conversation on February 1, 1934, it ia believed =.
that it will take an employes from four to seven weeks to bring this.
index system on the file up to date. Such an index appears necessery
as the file ia quite voluninous and without the aid of such an index
it is practically impossible for anyone to expeditiously locate particular
information in the file. As John G. Weltor, night typist, is nowa
permanent employee of the Division I thought it advisable to ‘assign him
the task of P bringing thie index up to Gates :
Mr. | Welter is a capable etenccrapher, as well. as typist, and:
during the time he ie at the office, from 5:30 PeMe to midnight, he is .
engaged practically continuously in typing reports. In view of Mr. .
Welter's assignment to index abe mbove mentioned case file, as suggested
above, the typing work Whi SK She has been doing will now, of course, be
thrown upon the remainder of, j phe. stenographie force and for that reason I
-\| requested autha ity to employ d temporary typist for a period of thirty. :
days me authority has, been ag in Division telegram, dated February l,
