Davia stated that he gathered fran certain rewarks that Harvey
Bailey had made, that perhaps the latter had some idee as to who might
have pulled the job, but he never did discuss it with the other mon,
Davis denies knowing Verne Miller or his purported wife;
emphatically denies ever having met Kelly or his wife. While he admits
Imowing FredoBarker and Arthun Barker, he states he has not seen these
two individuals for years, and does not know Volney,Ievis, Alvin
~Karvis or Harry-Campbell. He states that as far as "Pretty Boy%Floyd
is concerned, he no doubt knew him when he was a youngster, having been
born and raised in Oklahoma, but hes not seen him for years, and absolutely
has not been on any jobs with him, He has no idea who might have pulled
the Bremer kidnepping.
Davis also states that Harvey Bailey was absolutely innocent of
the Urschel Kidnapping, and frankly stated that he would not meke thia
statement if he was not positive, He stated Harvey Baily no doubt
exchanged some money for some other Subject who had prticipated in the
Urechel kidnapping; that he, Harvey Bailey, did not know it was the
ransom money at the time, stating thet Harvey Bailey was too wise and too
eabrewd to go down on the Shannon farm, which was "hot", with any of the
ransom money on him,
The giat of hia activities around Celifornia, and other detaile,
will be submitted by Agent in Charge Comroy and Special Agent C. D. White
of the Los Angeles Office.
Ed. Davis also stated that he had not seen Frenk Nash for a long
period of time; that be only spent one night in Hot Springs, Arkansas,
and never stayed there for any period of time. He denies imowing the
wife of Frank Nash or Dick Gelatas.
I then talked to LomaDevis, the wife of Ed. Davis, and she
stated that she ie positive that Ed. Davis wae not mized up in the Kansas
City massacre, because he frequently discussed with her various jobs that
head been pulled, and had been contemplated, and at no time was the Kansas
City messacre alluded to by Davie as a job in which he might have
participated. In fact, Mrs. Davis states she has been with Harvey Bailey,
Wilbur Unterbill, her husband, Bob Bredy and Jim Clark, after the shooting
at Kansas City, end fram their conversation, all but Harvey Bailey were
at ea loss to know why anyone would participate in euch a job without
deriving same benefit therefrom. She stated that at one time Harvey
Bailey made the remark that he thought he knew who micht have pulled the
