Reference is rate to letter from this office to the
Division dated Februery 12, 1934, transnitting letent fineerprints
fourd at the residence of Vernon C. Miller, 6612 Edrevale Road,
Kansas City, Kissour1, tog*ther with a list of susvects, whose finger-
prints it wes requested be compared with the latent prints. A copy
of thet letter was transmitted to the St. Peul offiee with report of
Svecial Agent ¥. F. Trainor dated at Kansas City, Missouri, 2-20-34, in
the case of alvin Kerpis, et al, Kiinaping, Edward G. Bremer, Victim,
es Will be noted on page siz of that report.
It is nor suggested thet the fingerprints of Wm. Hemm be
also compared with the Patent fincerprints found at the residence of
Vernon C. Miller. Horever, these latent nrints were taken from a
telephone, a clock and several beer bottles. It would be improbeble
thet Favm's prints would be found on any of the objects axcert poa-
sibly on a beer bottle, if he were held captive et Miller's resi-
derce.
In the report of Agent Trainor dated at Kensas City,
Missouri, July 3, 1933, in the instant metter, you rill note on page
trenty-three, in e memorendum by Svectal agent in Charge Dwight Brant-
ley, that during a seerch of the premises at 6612 Edgevale Road, there
wes discovered an ettic room, which hei epparently been used for the
herboring of an invalid, or wounded person. It is suceested as a pos-
sibility that the residence of Miller micht heve been used to harbor
Wo. Eecm during the period of his captivity. This is auggested es a
possibility. It is aprerent that, assuming thet Arthur R. Barker,
Fred Sarxer ard slvin Kerpils did purticipste in the kidnaping of Hamm
end also in the insternt massacre at Karsasa City on June 17th, that
they wov-ld probebly have been in pere>nel contect with Vernon C. Mil-
ler on June 17th,
In the report of Special agent W. F. Trainor dated at Kan-
ses City, December 27, 1933, attention is celled to an Essex Terra-
plane Sedan, purchesed at Kansss City, Kiseouri, which was later seen |
at the residerce at 204 Vernon avenue, St. Paul, Minnesota, ani leter
found in a gsrage in St. Peul, skere it had been purchesed by friends
of the underrorlé mob, of which the Barkers are members. As to the
exact identity of the individual who rurchased the Esser car in Kane
Bas City, it is pointed out thet no definite identification has been
made. It is the belief of the officials of the Eudeon-Brace Motor
Company that the party who purchzsed the car was Vernon C. Miller,
whose photograph, among others, was shovr to them, 4s a further in-
aieation of this fact, there is found on pare twenty-one of the re-
port of agent Trainor deted July 3, 1923, at Kacsas City mention of
the fact that a e.rd bearing the neme Harry S.XYoung of the Hudson-
Brace Motor Compeny wes found at the residence of Vernon C. Miller.
Young is the selesmar who sold the Essex Terra Plane Seden in question,
but he las failed to mike any ifentificetion of the photograph of
