knows an informant who ht be of considerable value in furnishing in-
formation that would result in the apprehension of Charles “Pretty Boy*
Fioyd.
Recently oar S. Smith and K. D. Deaderick of this office ~
One night lest week, I went with Special Agent Smith of this
office to Chickasha, Oklehona, and had an interview with Mr. Merlow.
ir. Merlow told me that it has been more than a year since he contacted
oye formerly frequented the in-
forzant's plece, es he, Marlow, on one occasion before he became Under- c~
sheriff at Chickesha sew them there.
Mr. Marlow told me that this informant more than a year ago told
him thet he could and would, for a consideration,*put the finger” on Floyd,
and would make arrangezents for his apprehension, but thet he could not do ~
1t for his health and that he would require £1,000 for the services he
would render, and that not one penny would have to be paid until Floyd hed
been apprehended. Marlow told me thet he took it up with the officials of
the State Bureeu of Criminel Investigation and Identification at Cklahona
City, Oklehoma, and that he made arrangerentsa to take some of these offi-e
ciale to the informant's house and did go there with two of them, one of
whom is vow dead, and that the one who is deceased was the man in authority,
and thet he got decidedly drunk before he got to the informant's house, and
the informant would not even discuss the matter with him, and since that
