CG 87-40596 ned that LEWIN, FBI Nuaber was presently on Federal probation, which extended until May 29, 1975, after having pled guilty in U. S. District Court (USDC), Northern District of Illinois (NDI), Chicago, Illinois, to two separate indictments. LEWIN had pled guilty to a violation of the U. S. Income Tax Law and also to giving false statements to the Treasury Department concerning transactions involving the buying and selling of gold and silver. Inquiry by the Chicago Division a. . that in 2/17/74, the hotel room o , @ salesman for the Hammond Company, San a Texas, had been burgiarized and the company's jewelry line stolen. At the time of this inc iden, iD we residing at the Travelodge Hotel, 4500 Harry Hines Boulevard, Dallas, Texas. It also determined that a portion of this stolen jewelry bore the tradé name "Princess" and other of the stolen items would bear a company tag which consists of the initials “BMH" in a diamond. oO
