The November 8, 1964 edition of "Tha New Ycrk
Times," a daily nex=panper published in Nev York City,
consained an article on vage 218 which reflected that NOL
92ftetals in Now York hai denounced MALCOLM X, who was
then on a tour to M2cca. The NOI officials described
MALCOLM X as a "seif-serving hypocrite consumed by a
pession for parsonal power" over America's twenty million
Negrces. They further stated "We only want MALCOLM
so stop attacicing ELIJAH MUHAMMAD, as he did from Mec72
wren he cailed him a religious faler. If he doesn't, we
will fight him as hard as he fights us.*
The following cpen telegram was dispatched
December 7, 1964, by Captain Raymond Sharrieff of -
ane pee of Islam of the Nation of Islam in North
America to the former Malcolm &, defected from the
Huslim movement, according to December 12, 1964, edition of
"The Crusader", page three:
"Mr. Malcclm: We hereby officially warn you
that the Wation of Isiam shall no longer
tolerate your scandilizing the name of
our leader and teacher the Honorable Elijah
Muhammad regardless of where such
scandalizing has been."
