NY 105-8999 SERET | An article appeared in the "New York Courler", a weekly NBF°, 38 newspaper published in New York City, of January 1 1965, page 1, column 2, which was captioned "Malcolm Insane, Says Brother and Elijah article reflected that ELIJAH MUHAMMAD and PHILBE > MALCOLM X's brother, both eriticized MALCOLM X and ref red to him as a "hypocrite," This article reflected that PHILBERT X described MALCOLM as a victim of a mental illness and that he had falsely charged MUHANNAD 's 8 family with seeking his ouster from the NOI, PHILBERT K was quoted as stating: "Unnecessary loss of blood and life® could only result from those who follow the reckless efforts of MALCOLM X, The February 6, 1965, edition of the "New York Amsterdam News," on page 1, contained an article which reflected that MALCOLM X claimed that the NOI was out to get him and stated "My death has been ordered by higher-ups in the movement." He claimed attempts had been made against hin in Los Angeles and New Yori city. This article also reflected that MALCOLM X had obtained a Show Cause Order staying a scheduled eviction from hishome pending an appeal of the eviction ruling. This ruling had been obtained by the NOI which owns his house in which MALCOLM X resides and into which he had moved when he was an NOI official. This articie went on to state that NOI officials in New York City and Chicago have vehemently denied that they, or their supporters, have made attempts on MALCOLM's life. As Canada At an OAAU meeting held on January 5, 1955, in New York City, it was announced that MALCOLM X was at that time, making a speech in Canada. eee + ww The New York "Journal American”, dated February 24, 1965, contained an article which stated that reports have been received that "MALCOLM was considering an offer to go to work for Egypt's GAMAL ABDEL NASSER as Head of the African section of Cairo's Foreign Ministry. sa Pole
