A memorandum to the Director dated 5/13/39, stated that the Bureau had received a letter, no date given, under the signature of Richard H. Jacobson, publisher of the "Standard Opinton", Chicago, II1. wherein it was stated that he assisted the Bureau at the request of Melvin Purvis when the Bureau needed money several years ago.
