Details: WFO is investigating two threatening letters which were
mailed to the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 01/2001
and 02/2001 from Columbia, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia
respectively which were similar in physical appearance and
content. In the 02/2001 letter, reference is made to the "Sons
of Islam." Both letters were forwarded to the FBI Laboratory's
Latent Print Unit. Referenced serial is FBI Laboratory Report
10209002 dated 06/14/2001. The laboratory report reveals that
four latent prints of value for comparison were developed.
Automated latent fingerprint searches were conducted, but no
identification was effected.
WFO received from Minneapolis Division, one original
threatening letter mailed to in Minneapolis. The b6
letter makes reference to the "Sons of Islam." This letter is bIC
being submitted to the FBI Laboratory for the development of
latent prints. If prints are developed, comparison to the latent
prints in the referenced laboratory report is requested. Also,
submission of the developed prints for an automated latent
fingerprint search is requested. Re-submission of the prints in
the referenced serial is requested in the event the system has
been updated with comparable prints since the last submission.
