Nizon Brief of investigation, prepared under date of August 10, 1937, ts entirely satisfactory, only comment underlined being that of former Footbai:l Coach, who stated Mr. Nixon was apt to work too hard and had been cautioned, in view of fact Mr. Niron's older brother had died of tuberculosis, that he should be careful.not to overwork less he become afflicted with the same illness. & |" The brief contains comnents concerning and Ure Hanson's coment concerning Mr. Nizon's desire to take the set California Sar kLraminatione . The brief is marked, "Not qualified, C for Q", reflecting that Mre Crowdéd, formerly assigned to the Administrative Division, marked the brief “not qualified" for Mr. Quinn, who ct that time was passing on Agent appointmentse - The brief contains a further ink notation, "Cancel appt., 8/11, T.", reflecting Mre Tolson's instructions that the appointment which had been approved by the Department should be cancellede It will be recalled that in 1937, a request was made of the Department for approval to av-point and then the actual appointment request was forwarded to the Department, appointment letter being held until such time as the applicant was notified of his appotntmente. eens In this instance, the appointment was cancelled under date of | august 15, 1937. There ts nothing in the file to show that the appointment ever went forward to Mre Nixon. ABo, the reason for the cancellation of the appointment is not reflected in the filee It may be assumed that in view of the fact that \ Mr. Nizon wes not immediately available for appointment, and based on .- Hour needs in August of 1937, that the appointment was cancelled.
