Memorandum to Mr. Callahan
Re: Glade D. Helzer
Bureau files disclose that Mr. Nixon, then Vice President, was
the featured speaker at the graduation exercises which were held before the
53rd +ssion of the FBI National Academy on 6-11-54. Mr. Nixon was
introduced by the Director. In this introduction the Director noted that
~"some years ago he was exterded an appointment as a Special Agent of the
FBI but having already embarked upon the practice of law, the FBI's loss
ultimately became the country's gain." At the request of Mr. Nixon a copy
a of the Director's introduction was made available to him, apparently on
6-15-54, with the penciled notation in the file by former Assistant to the
Director L. B. Nichols,"Delivered. He was most appreciative."
RECOMMENDATIONS:
(1) It is recommended that the attached letter o
be approved which transmits to him a copy of the transcript of the Director's
introduction of Mr. Nixon before the 53rd Session of the FBI National
; Adademy. The Director's comments in this introduction are consistent
with the information which we have in our files as indicated by the foregoing.
