susject: TV INTERVIEW OF WALTER LIPPMANN ‘
y ON "CBS REPORTS! CHANNEL 9, 10 P, M, - @) _ ve \
JUNE 7, 1962 eo Beer MEN MEDS. \\
Walter Lippmann, noted newspaper columnist, during an hour- v
long interview, in reference to the recent incident relating to the steel “
prices commented that he thought the Administration's involving the Cc
FBI in the matter for early morning interviews of newsmen was bad, ~
Later in the interview in answer to a question concerning the Attorney .
General, Mr. Lippmann replied that "Bobby" is a pleasant fellow but
he still has the same reservation about him that he held prior to his «
appointment as Attorney General. He said "Bobby” is the type of person \
that when he feels he is right about a matter becomes "ruthless."
He asserted the FBI's involvement in the steel issue was a good example 7
and that he assumed, in fact he felt sure, that this was "Bobby's" |
doings since he is in charge of such matters. These were the only
references to the FBI noted during the entire program.
