GENERAL a eR Reference is made to Mr. C. A, Evans' note dated 6/4/62, concerning the above-entitled matter. The following specimens were received from Mr. Evans: 5e #1 One 30 mi. vial containing small amount of yellow liquid #2 One 10 ml, vial containing 10 ml. af yellow liquid’ ~ #3 One 10 ml. vial containing 10 ml. of yeliow liquid. -— #4 One 10 ml. vial containing 10 ml, of yellow liquid | It was requested that the Laboratory determine whether the samples were similar and whether narcotics or barbiturates were present. It is pointed out that it is not possible by analytical means alone to determine the specific detailed composition of these samples from the limited | quantities furnished; however, general similarity and tests for certain specific components, such as narcotics and barbiturates were possible. Confirming the oral information furnished to Mr, Evans, the following results were obtained from such examination as could be made of this material: (a) Each of the specimens is composed of mixtures of vegetable oil solutions and water solutions; (b) Specimen #1 is different from specimens #2, 3 and 4; (c) Specimens #2, 3, and 4 are similar to each ‘other; fAN Bane fF iL. ; (d) None of the specimens contain any barbiturates or narcotics, as Methadon, Dem%rol, or opium alkaloids (morphine or codein ine), (e) Vials, such as we have in this instance, usually contain printed matter on the glass. Specimen #3 contains black particles that suggest at least 6 lines of printing were on the outside and that this printing has been mae rr ved before receipt in the Laboratory.
