editorial on page 12 entitled: "NAACP Advice." The editorial
discussed the student strike at Alcorn A and M College, a
Negro institution in Mississippi. It waa noted that Roy
Filkins, NAACP Executive Secretary, had sent a message to
the President of the Alcorn Student Council in which he
stated the NAACP deplored any pressure which dented Mr. King
freedom of speech on integration.

The "State Tines, " Jackson, Mississippi, on
3-12-57, carried an article on page 10, entitled "NAACP
Could Have Prevented Alcorn Rhubard, Says Webb." The
article quoted remarks made by Robert Webb, Associate
Editor of the'State Times"at a neeting of the South
Jackson Lions Club. Webb expressed the view that if the
NAACP had been sincere in its efforts to advance colored
people it could have prevented the atudent walkout at
Alcorn A and M college. His statement said in part: "Had
Roy Wilkins spoken earlier before the damage was done, the
student body would have remained at Alcorn, As it waa
