Sub-Comnittee subpoena four sets of files to wit the State Department
investigations file complete with the sub-rosa section, the State
Department personnel file, CSC files and FBI files. He further stated _
thet all cases discussed will have derogatory data developed by the FBI, .
Senator MceCARTHY then proceeded with Case No. 1 and named
DCPOTHYAKENYON, a present employee of the State Department who was ©
receiving (2,000 per annum and who is presently a US member assigned to...
a committes at the UN. He stated DOROTHY KENYON was affiliated with °° ©
twentyeight front organizations, nine of the twentyeight being listed 4
by the Attorney General and that her record dates back some ten to fifteen |. |
yoars. He then procecded to present to the Comittee photostatic copies —
of documents which would show her comection with these subversive |
organizations.
The Comittee was recessed until 10,30 AN on Ierch 9, 1950. |
There is enclosed herewith for your information the opening
statement to the Sub-Committee by Senator MeCARTHY, wiiich had been
previously given to the Press and Secretary of State DEAN ACHUSCN's
testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee on Tuesday, :
February 28, 1950, which had also been given out to the Press.
