FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION & Date of transcription 5/ 15/72 Captain | et the Investigation Section, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Columbus, Ohio, con- tacted outside the Lausche Building, the Qhio State Fair~ grounds, Columbus, Ohio, furnished the following informa— don: stated that he was in charge of two platoons of highway patroimen, who marched to the Lausche Building approximately twenty minutes prior to the arrival of Vice-President SPIRO AGNEW, who was to speak at the Lausche Building, stated that SPIRO” AGNEW's procession used thé north entrance to the Lausche Building grounds, and as they approached the gates to the grounds in that area a number of demonstrators who were protesting the Vietnam Policy of the United States ran towards the gates at t end of the field outside of the Lausche Building. ( [etatea that he later learned that possibly some rocks were own at Vice-President AGNEW's car, just as his car approached the gates to the Lausche Building grounds. He stated that the Vice-president's car was struck by an object, which shattered the upper right hand coxner of the rear windshield of the Vice-President's car. advised that it was unknown at this time how many peopje were at that end of the gate when the Vice-President's car passed, but he heard estimates that there were approximately fLifty to one hundred demonstra- tors screaming ties at the Vice~president's car as it passed, advised that an officer of the patrol on duty 3 grounds reportedly may have observed a rock being thrown at the car as it passed the north gate of the Lausche Building.
