During the past 90 days voluminous pertinent
information has been derived through this tesur indicating
the extent of influence by Levison on Mrs, King and SCLC
leaders regarding financial arrangements, fund raising,
ina mm tion
plans and policies, Some examples are as follows:
On March 29, 1968, Levison attempted to encourage
King, who was discouraged over the Poor People's Campaign and
his image.
On April 17, 1968, Levison told Mrs. King that it
would be all right for her to take part in an anti-Vietnam
rally and the Mothers’ March but that Ralph Abernathy, new
President of the SCLC, should net appear on aT. V. program
since he would be gambling with his reputation.
On May 9, 1968, Levison drafted a “tough” telegram
for the SCLC to send to Walter Reuther at the United Automobile
Workers Union Convention appealing for Funds,

arrangements and discussions regarding the race for the
Democratic Presidential nomination, the gist of which was that
Vice President Humphrey must be stopped.
