Hart, CBS News and - James S. Doyle of the Boston (Mass.) Globe, on "Face the Nation" ‘WTOP (Channel 9) at 12:30 p.m. Carmichael made no reference to the Director or the FBI. Carmichael, for the most part, was questioned concerning recent inflammatory-type statements he made while participating in the "Mississippi March." He was specifically asked what he meant by "black power," and answered that he meant Lh YA / that the Negroes in various localities in the South, such as Lowndes ~ County, Alabama, should be in control since they ‘greatly outnumber the whites. When pressed as to how the Negroes should obtain control, Carmichael at first stated it should be by organizing themselves politically and registering to vote. However, in response to an inquiry as to whether he would use violence in obtaining this power, he.indicated that if the Negroes were prevented from obtainingcontrol legally, they would have to obtain it in other ways.
