LAWS UPHELD.
The Supreme Court's ruling, handed down November 12, by
Justice Butler, confirmed that aliens can be prohibited by states from
holding land, provided there is no treaty stipulation t the contrary, |
and affirmed that the existing treaty between the Washington and Tokyo

governments contained no suoh stipulation. The alien land laws of
California and Washington were thus upheld, and litigation arising
from these State statutes thereby settled.
