This letter is to confirm and clarify the request for infor- mation I have made to Mr, Joe Davis of your office, We are interested in the formal F, B.I, procedures regard- ing custodial interrogation of a suspect being questioned as to his guilt, Specifically, we are looking for anything which indicates that once such a suspect has indicated he wishes to assert his Miranda rights, it is F. B.I policy not to attempt to obtain a waiver of the Miranda rights {especially the right to remain silent) cither by: (1) specifically asking the suspect if he wishes to waive his rights, or (2) attempting to further question the suspect, (3) reading the suspect his Miranda rights a second time, subsequent to the initial in- terrogation, and attempting to further question him at that time. We would appreciate it if those sections of the F, B.1.
