Pottinger said, of course, it might be that the Attorney General for some reason or another had decided not to send the memorandum. . Pottinger referred to a contact with John Mintz, Legal Coynsel, some weeks ago along the lines of determining the identities of Agents who might be subject to administrative action and where Mr. Mintz was attempting to get some type of material fox this purpose. He said the memorandum prepared by him for the Attorney General covered the points requested by Mintz. Mr. Pottinger stated he had been informed by the Director that ADIC DeBruler waa to handle this matter and had the Director's complete confidence; therefore, he felt free to advise ADIC DeBruler of the above. ‘ Pottinger said he would furnish information: to ADIC * DeBruler concerning one specific FBI employee wherein the information cbhtained by the Department was not as a result of.the Federal Grand Jury. He said there were a number of allegations that were third hand < and that subsequent inguiry turned out to be "zero." He termed these as the easy matters which required no administrative action and which, in turn, he could see no reason to refer to the FBI because sane might get into the files of employees, raise a question when in fact no question really existed. Matterg of this nature will, therefore, not be referred to the FBI. _ mit Pottinger also said that only a "handfy]" of material would be turned over to ADIC DeBruler becayse there gs not that much information of this nature developed.
