Reference is made to the August 19, 1975,
Pottinger, Assistant Attorney General,
Civil Rights Division, to Clarence M. Kelley, Director, PBI,
wherein Mr. Fottinger requested certain information con- ;
cerning surreptitious entries coaducted by the FBI since
January 1, 1966.
Rr. Pottinger requasted the following inforszation
regarding surreptitious entries:
The date of the entry.
The location ané nature of the prenises entered.
The identity of the person whose prenises vere
entered as well as pertinant information about
the person.
Any organization or group, if any, which was
the target of the investigation In which the |
entry occurred.
The specific purpose of the surreptitious entry.
The nature of the information and materials
obtained.
The identity of any other organigation, govern-
mental or private, that prompted the entry, or
participated in the planning or execution of
the antry.
The identity of all FBI personnel who took part
in the entries, and any person who approved or
recomended such an entry.
The identification number of the case file(s)
from which information about the entries may
be obtained.
