Adams to Mr. P.L. Mack, 8/19/75, and telephone call of Mr. H.N. Helterhoff to Mr. J. L. Smythe, 8/20/75. A review of the files of the Special Investigative Division indicates that from January, 1966, to the present time there have been six surreptitious entries conducted in connection with investigations handied by the Generai Investigative Division. All of these entries have been under authority of court order and in accordance with Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, and were undertaken for the purpose of installing electronic devices for the interception of oral commufications. In each instance, at the conclusion of the court-authorized period of inter- ception, a second entry was made for the purpose of retrieving the electronic device. ; \ fp So a ' ee be; .
