In a 4/21/76 request, the Civil Rights Dividibn ™~|
asked whether our "Inspection Division currently has any
investigations underway or contemplated regarding surrep-
titious entries by Bureau personnel, including, but not
limited to, two entries in 1972 and two entries in 1973
into residence of alleged WUO (Weather Underground Organization
persons." Information concerning these entries was
recently transmitted to Headquarters from New York, and
resulted from a review there of SAC folders, On learning

of this material, particularly the entries within the
Statute of Limitations, the Director indicated that the
documents should be reviewed. On 4/22/76, Mr. James Turner,
Deputy to Assistant Attorney General Pottinger, was con-
tacted about our intention to have the Inspection Division
examine this matter. We communicated our concern that our
prior review of the documents might jeopardize, interfere
with, or disrupt the Departmental review. Mr. Turner
contacted Mr. Pottinger who indicated he would prefer that
Civil Rights Division have first review of the documents
in question, Mr. William L, Gardner, Departmental Attorney
handling the Civil Rights Division's inquiry, was advised
on 4/23/74 of our decision not to conduct a review of
this material until his review is competed. Co
