In Utah, Bundy was in- vestigated in connection with the disappearance of Debra Kent, IT, of Bountiful who disap- peared from ihe parking lot of Viewmont High School on the evening of Nov. 8, 1974. Bundy wus convicted ‘of kidnaping Carol DaRonch, 18, from Fash- jon Piace Mall earlier that day. Miss DaRonch, although partially hand- cuffed, managed to break away from her abductor a short time later. Miss DaRonch later identified Bundy as the man who abducted her, pointed a gun at her and stated he was going to blow her head off. The Bundy case has been a long series of legal maneuvering and delays. He was arrested Aug. 16, 1975, after an investiga- tion. and was convicted March 1, 1976. He was sentenced July 1, 1976, The Colorado charges against Bundy were made Oct. 23, 1976. Bundy escaped from - the same courthouse where entertainer Claudine Longet was tried, convicted and served a 30-day jail sen- ’ tence for the March 1976 slaying of pro skier Via- dimir *‘Spider’’ Sabich. Miss Longet was re- jeased from the cvunty jail in the courthouse’s asement last month. The sheriff's spokes- man said Bundy, who was waring a turtle neck, slacks and brown loafers, had been jeft alone in the ‘Jaw dibrary te prepare for presentation of his case when he escaped. ——?
