Bundy, a native of Tacoma, Wash., has been
investigated in connection with several rape-killings
or disappearances of young women in at least three
western states. His description nearly matches.that
of the man in the Long Beach abduction attempt.
Ginger Russell, 28, told police she was walking
along the pacific Coast Highway about 2:30 a.m.
Thursday when a car with spot lights mounted on , ;
either side blocked her path, and a man who said he + —_——
was a policeman asked for identification and then ~
tried to handcuff her. She said she struggled free and
flagged down a passing motorist.

Special Agent Simon Tullai said Thursday in a
telephone interview from Denver that at the least his
office “wants the ‘Washington — office to. ‘issue an Character:
“identification order” placing Bundy'’s picture in
every post office.
Tullai said he has yet to receive a reply from
Washington, and agents are at a loss as to what to do
next.
