Congress, THURGOOD MARSHALL was, in 1949, a member of the Rxecutive Board of the National Lawyers’ Guild and several years prior thereto, was also a member of the International Juridical Association and National Committeesan from the state of Maryland in said association, This motion by the defense pointed out that in the findings of the Congressional Committee both the International Juridical Association and the National Lavyers' Guild were described as Communist front organizations allied with the Communist Party, the latter referred to in the reports as the “legal bulwark of the Communist Party".
