From an initial posture of "Participating Democracy” SDS moved to a radical-revolutionary position with debat< centering on how best to create a revolutionary youth movement. Internal factionalism produced a split during the SDS national convention in June, 1969, which resulted in the following three factions; Weathermen, Worker Student Alliance (WSA), and Revolutionary Youth Movement (RYM}). The Weathermen and RYM are no longer affiliated with the SDS, The WSA continues to use the name SDS, and maintains its national headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, On August 21, 1972, a march and demonstration was held at Miami Beach and it had actually been sponsored by approximately 150 Zippies, This began at 3:45 p.m. at Flamingo Park.
