There were no arrests and no violence in connection with this matter, b75 On the afternoon of August 22, 1972, a group of about three to four hundred persons, mostly Zippies, demonstrated in the area of the convention hall, Miami Beach, Some of these people started burning some flag bunting on a pole and they were surrounded by the Florida Highway Patrol, The Patrol started to make arrests and there was no difficulty in making the arrests. The group demonstrating was described as a "mixed group" in which persons from several different types of groups were represented, On August 22, 1972, a large demonstration took place in the afternoon which started out as a Zippie demonstration, There were about 400 people and during the march from Flamingo Park to the convention area, a window in a bank was broken, During the demonstration, there was some pounding on cars and some obs®nities shouted and finally the Florida Highway Patrol moved in. In connection with this demonstration, although the Zippies are being blamed for this demonstration and numerous others, a good many of the persons involved are not real Zipptes but merely “street people" who had drifted into the Miami and Flamingo Park area, -~ ll e CONFINQNTIAL
