On 4/28/52 Radio Station KGo, American Broadcasting System, San Francisco, telephonically advised that beginning Wednesday evenings at 8:30 PM, May 7, 1952, KG0 would broadcast a thirty minute program of "I Was A Communist Spy For The FBI." These broadcasts will involve a twenty-six week series. The time has been purchased by the Rainier Brewing Comnany for San Francisco and Los Angeles. understands Golden State Compary, Ltd., a milk and ice cream concern, is sponsoring the same program for twelve other radio stations throughout California. extended an invitation to the San Francisco Office' to a local audience which would consist of representatives of the Mayor's Office, San Francisco; the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, American. Legion representatives and similar organizations following which those. their views on the program and coming series. is very friendly. and-cooperative with the. San Francisco Office. He was informed, however, that we could not accept his invitation to participate in the program since the FBI has had no connection what- soever with the proposed radio program, the motion picture or book on this matter involving MATTHEw CverIC; furthermore, that the Bureau does not intend to have anything to do with the radio.program. At the same time it was determined that the local representative of the FREDerick W. ZzIy Coupany had sold the. sponsorship-idea.to the-Rainier Brewing Company.
