Reference is made to prior memorandua dated
September 3, 1964.
Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department.
intormed on the afternoon of September 17, 1964, that no
additional infcrmation has been received specifically
indicating any possible violence involving racial aspects
;
in connection with the appearance of the Beatles, a quartet
singing group on tour from England, at Municipal Stadium
the right of September 17, 1964..
said that a few
apparently baseless and unverifiable rumors had come to
his attention suggesting that one or two Muslims or
ex-Muslims, unidentified, had been overheard to say "some
trouble might occur" at the stadium in connection wjth the
appearance of the Beatles..
said that his inquiry
had indicated that these rumors were disconnected, were
untrue and no credence should be given to them. He said,
horever, that police security measures at the stadium,
including assignment of 350 police officers,
cover any
potential for, or actual violence.
