Doylestown, Pennsylvania, December 15, l924. The subject came to
Houston, Texas in hay of l925 and was employed by the Gulf Oil Cor-
poration from May 25, 1925, through April 26, 1926. In May of 1926
he was employed by the Shell Oil Corporation where he worked until.
August 15, l930 at which time the field force was reduced and he
was laid off. Between August 15, l930 and November 24, 1930 the
subject visited Germany, France and Switzerland. On November 24, 1930
he reentered the employ of the Shell Oil Corporation in the Geophysical
Department. He was again laid off between April and July, l93l, but
has worked constantly since this last date..
The files further revealed that the subject married LARgARET.
RletlE August 26, 1930 in Houston. They now have two children and his
wife was born at Lake Arthur, Louisiana July, 20, ly0l. The subject's
father is deceased and his mother iARIA A.,LANG is now living in
Durbach, Germany. The subject filed a petition for citizenship Decem-

F. C. zELriAN, supervisor of the personnel department, stated
that the subject stops at the William Penn Hotel when in Houston, which
is not over once or twice a year.
MRS. NELLIE ChArT, dayroom clerk at the William Penn ad-
vised that she has known the subject for the past ten or twelve years
because of his stopping at the hotel. She further stated the subject
has never gotten out of line and she has never heard him make any
derrogatory remarks of any kind.
DR. RAY R. LORSE, head of the seismograph department of the
Shell Oil Corporation, stated that he has never received any complaints
from the men working with the subject in regard to any un-American
activities, or to his being a member of the German-American Bund, but
that he did have a reputation of being a headstrong and forceful individual.
R. FRANK GOLDSTEIN, Shell Oil Corporation, to whom all
seismograph men are responsible, advised that he has never received any
information indicating the subject was Pro-German or a member of a German-
American Bund Crganization.
LAhTIl LEIsSNER, Route #l, Liberty, Texas, former fellow
employee of the subject stated he has known LANG since l925 during
which time both were employed by the Shell Oil Corporation. He then
because the work became slack, and during this time according to Mf.
LEIssNeR, the subject took a trip to Germany to see his mother. LR.
LEIssvER advised the last time he saw the subject was in l9hO in Houston
at a Field lanager's leeting.
