It was later ascertainad tro who had charge of reservations for S.P., that BRECHT, in making his reserva- tions, had left two telephone numbers, one of which was his name phons and the other Sante ‘fonica 51402. This latter telephone is listod to LIG# PSUCATWANGER. Prior to departing for New York, BRECHT had obtained a travel permit from the United States Attorney at Los Angeles, in whick he stated that he de- sired to remsin in New York for about eight weeks on theater business.
